The Grantmaking School of Grand Valley State University offers Advanced Grant Portfolio Management: A Framework for Strategic Grantmaking in partnership with Associated Grant Makers, Maine Philanthropy Center, Connecticut Council for Philanthropy and Grant Makers Council of Rhode Island on October 14-15, 2010.
Previously offered as two separate courses, The Grantmaking School has condensed all of the richest and most relevant content into one highly informative and beneficial class for advanced grantmakers with three to five years of experience.
The new Advanced Grant Portfolio Management will help grantmakers learn about the strategic benefit of developing a foundation lens to inform strategy development. Course topics include:
- Building and working with a strategic change framework
- The many ways foundation professionals can and should add value to their grantmaking
- Grantmaker techniques and cautions in providing value and ensuring alignment
- The role of strategic communications in ongoing strategy development
- The role of evaluation in strategic grantmaking

Tuition for Advanced Grant Portfolio Management is $1,295. The Grantmaking School is thoroughly committed to ensuring that its courses are able to continue strengthening and deepening the professional capacity of grantmakers, both in good and challenging economic times. Additional discounts, such as $250 off for alumni of The Grantmaking School, and scholarship assistance are also available. A discount of $250 is offered for dues-paying members of Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP).
