Displaced Families Rebuild Their Lives – Housing and Asset-Building
Challenges Beyond Emergency Shelter and Community Rebuilding.”
The Economic Policy Institute has released a briefing paper “Lessons
for post-Katrina Reconstruction” which analyzes reconstruction
in southern California after the 1994 Northridge earthquake and
draws lessons for the Gulf Coast.

Heritage Foundation has recommendations on providing housing

The Institute for Women’s Policy Research has released a
paper “The Women
of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast: Multiple Disadvantages and Key
Assets for Recovery.”
The Center for Law and Social Policy has published
“Spotlight on Katrina: Structuring Recovery Efforts to Help
Low-Income Families.”
OMB Watch
is concerned about fiscal policy as Congress scrambles to find money
for Katrina/Rita rebuilding efforts.
In addition, the Senate Finance Committee held an October 6 Hearing
on “The Future of the Gulf Coast: Using Tax Policy to Help
Rebuild Businesses and Communities and Support Families after Disasters.”
