Introduction to Grants Research              
Date:  Monday April 4,, 2011            
Time:  9:00am – 11:30 pm  (Registration & Coffee at 8:30)
Location:  Oak Bluffs Public Library
The Introduction to Grants Research Workshop introduces you to the world of Philanthropy. You will discover the wealth of opportunity that exists in terms of foundation grants. We will introduce you to the process of grants research and all that it entails. You will learn how to approach the foundations, and most importantly how not to. Learn how to tell your organization’s story for best effect. We will demo several databases (AGM Grant Makers, Foundation Directory Online, and Guidestar) that are critical to finding the right grant maker for your organization.

Grants Research Databases – An In-Depth Look  
Date: Monday April 4, 2011   *Choose one session
Times:    Session 1:  12:30 – 3:00
                Session 2: 3:30 – 6:00
Location: Oak Bluffs Public Library
In this workshop we’ll take a detailed look at the AGM Grant Makers Database and the Foundation Center’s Foundation Directory Online, two key databases that you will use often in your grants research.  This workshop will give you hands-on experience using your own organization’s unique mission, needs and goals to create personalized search strategies.
Please bring a USB or thumb drive so you can bring your search results home with you.


Introduction to Grant Writing
Date: Tuesday   April 5, 2011
Times:  9 – 11:30 (Registration & Coffee at 8:30)
Location: Oak Bluffs Public Library
Learn how to create a winning grant proposal! We’ll look at the different types of grant proposals, the typical components of a proposal and the steps in the process. We’ll also talk about how you can make the process as efficient as possible – how to get the proposals out and still have time to provide services to the community! A look at sample proposals including AGM's Common Proposal Form, websites and other helpful resources will also be covered.  ** This class is meant for those who are just beginning or need a light refresher.
