For over 15 years, Silver Lining Mentoring has enjoyed continuous growth and success in matching youth in the child welfare system with highly committed volunteer mentors for an average of over 4.5 years per match. Silver Lining Mentoring also works with young people who are preparing to age out of the child welfare system by teaching critical life skills to help teens successfully transition to adulthood. Silver Lining Mentoring continues to be among only a few mentoring organizations in the United States, and the only mentoring organization in Massachusetts, that exclusively serves the unique needs of youth in the foster care system. Position Summary

The Development Operations Associate manages the daily operations of SLM’s development department, including in support of Donor Portfolio Management, Donor Relations, Information Management and Gift Entry and Recognition efforts. The position works with the Development team to implement and manage an organization-wide donor relations and stewardship system that appropriately and consistently promotes genuine relationships with donors.

Responsibilities

Donor Portfolio Management

  • Proactively support the stewardship responsibilities of CEO, Director of Development and Board members with donor and prospects
  • Provide relevant information and data to help establish donor stewardship plans
  • Help coordinate donor stewardship efforts by leadership
  • Serve as secondary contact and/or qualification contact for donors in the portfolios of others

Donor Relations Systems

  • Work with Director of Development to document and implement a systematic and integrated donor relations program that encompasses moves management strategies, portfolio management and donor recognition
  • Work with Director of Development to develop and assess policies and procedures that are essential for a comprehensive donor relations program

Information Management

  • Create and produce regular donation reports that support the management and cultivation of donors and prospects
  • Review information tracking processes regarding acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications and continued cultivation of past and current major donors to enhance their relationship with Silver Lining Mentoring and increase the likelihood of continued contributions
  • Help devise consistent, accurate, and appropriate information-sharing mechanisms for stewarding prospects and donors across the organization

Gift Entry, Data Entry and Donor Recognition

  • Manage the import and export of all donor and donation data in Salesforce
  • Generate Development reports for both the Development and Finance teams, as well as the Board
  • Process acknowledgements to donors in a consistent and timely fashion
  • Manage all data policies, including recommending and implementing needed changes to stay abreast of best practices and industry standards
  • Serve as liaison to Finance Department to develop accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Management of annual appeal and event invitation lists
  • Track pledges and invoices
  • Produce RSVP and follow-up lists for fundraising events including annual Match Gala
  • Interface with donors to ensure efficient and accurate gift processing

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail oriented, well organized, focused and goal-oriented, with a high level of initiative and energy
  • Problem-solving skills and using judgment in situations requiring independent initiative and tact
  • Knowledge of, and direct experience with, Salesforce or a comparable database (Salesforce experience strongly preferred)
  • Excellent computer skills including Google docs, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to build positive and effective relationships with colleagues
