Boston Arts Academy (BAA) is Boston’s only public high school for the visual and performing arts. BAA provides a diverse student body, a majority who come from low-income families, access to a college-preparatory arts and academic education not otherwise available to them. Overview of position:
Boston Arts Academy is seeking a Program Manager for our Center for Arts in Education, the outreach and professional development arm of the school designed to disseminate best practices and increase arts education opportunities for Boston Arts Academy and other Boston-area students. This position is a full-year, part-time position. The Program Manager will work three days a week during the school year and through the summer and will follow a BPS management (rather than teacher) schedule. Evenings and Saturdays may be required.

Responsibilities include the following:
Program Manager of Summer Programming
- Work with Summer Program Artistic Directors and school leadership to set and implement the vision of Summer Programming in 2018.
- Manage the recruitment of participants.
- Direct the writing, creation and dissemination of promotional materials for 2018.
- Establish, redesign and populate social media and web presence.
- Manage payroll and contracts.
- Collaborate in planning and organizing the summer program schedule.
- Manage planning and organizing logistics.
- Work with others on team to build partnerships with outside organizations.
- Draft and maintain budgets.
- Help research and write three funding proposals.
- Refine and develop assessment and evaluation of program.
- Manage the hiring of staff, including potentially current graduating BAA students and other alumni.
- Research and plan for the vision of Summer programming 20182022.
- Manage the visioning, planning and organizing for Summer of 2019.
- Other duties as assigned.
Program Manager of School Visits
- Manage, plan and execute local, national and international visits to Boston Arts Academy during the school year, including visit design, invoicing, catering, and coordination.
- Design school visit programs based on communications with potential visitors, which aim to meet the goals of each visiting group; including meetings with specific personnel, workshops, and student/teacher panels.
- Design and manage advertising to develop interest in Boston Arts Academy school visits to ensure a steady number of school visits throughout the year.
- Manage the use of student ambassadors as a resource for school events in coordination with the Executive Director of the Foundation, and BAA faculty and staff to include student ambassadors as a resource for school events as well as outside community partnerships.

- Program Manager of Student Ambassadors
- Design and manage student ambassador training materials each year to reflect the goals and highlights of Boston Arts Academy.
- Train a new cohort of student ambassadors each fall to create a core of 18 ambassadors for each school year.
- Strengthen training and ambassador community with student ambassador meetings once per month, exemplifying roles of student ambassadors as advocates for Boston Arts Academy, leaders of the student body and examples of BAA’s vision. Update students on current BAA highlights to ensure consistent promotional messaging for The Center and Boston Arts Academy.
- Exemplify a mentorship role in the student ambassador program. Assist students with resumes, college applications and public speaking.
Program Manager of Performance Requests and Budget Oversight
- Receive, manage, and plan outside performance requests for Boston Arts Academy students, including presentation to Arts Team, invoicing, catering, and coordination.
- Receive payment requests for Arts Departments and oversee check requests as well as supply, production, adjunct, and custodial budgets.
- Other Duties as assigned, including staff support of the Foundation.
- Bachelor’s Degree (copy of transcript required).
- Commitment to the arts as an important element in a complete education.
- Commitment to cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity as an element in a complete education.
- Ability to take on responsibilities and prioritize quickly.
- Ability to work within flexible working hours.
- Ability to work within a complex school system.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluency in languages in addition to English.
