Trust support focuses on the expansion of environmental philanthropy.

To support the 1999 Annual Environmental Grantmakers Association Retreat.
Fairhaven Acushnet Land Preservation Trust - $150,000
To provide a program related investment to assist in the purchase and preservation of 212 acres of pristine coastline property for watershed protection and maintenance of habitat diversity.
International Fund for Animal Welfare - $5,000
To create a video to educate merchant mariners on the plight of the right whale and precautionary measures to avoid collisions.
Marine Biological Laboratory - $25,000
To study the population dynamics of northeast squid fisheries and to assist resource managers and policy-makers charged with ensuring the stability of the stock.

To produce and distribute a brochure documenting the restoration of a degraded salt marsh in the town of Fairhaven and to print and distribute the Buzzards Bay Atlas of Tidally Restricted Salt Marshes to town officials, libraries and environmental groups throughout the watershed.
Conservation Law Foundation - $20,000
To restore estuarine wetlands in Chelsea and use the restoration process as a vehicle for estuary education as well as a promotional prototype under established regional and national programs for community-based urban wetlands restoration.
Massachusetts Bays Program - $12,667
To implement the Wetlands Health Project, a collaboration among agencies, non-profits, and academia to develop a methodology to measure wetland quality using citizen volunteers.

To support a collaborative effort with the Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency involving the use of an innovative pollution trading system with Specialty Minerals, Inc. with the goal of improving the Hoosic River as a cold water fishery.
International Wildlife Coalition - $50,000 (over 2 years)
To employ a collaborative approach addressing the conflict between endangered whales and commercial fisheries.
New England Forestry Foundation - $15,000
To develop and implement a management plan for a 700+ acre area of forests and fields owned by both public and private landowners in the town of Walpole.

To support the creation of the SuAsCo Watershed Community Council Project, a group of stakeholders brought together to create a common vision for the watershed.

Massachusetts Audubon Society- Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary - $10,000
To support sandplain grassland and coastal heathland restoration and research focused on 29 acres of critical habitat containing more than sixteen rare plant and animal species.
New England Wild Flower Society - $20,000
To expand the "Rare Wetland Plant and Habitat Volunteer Initiative" where participants monitor the state's rare and endangered wetland plant species and their habitats, as well as participate in hands-on management field actions.
Tufts University- Department of Biology - $21,296
To study the role of salt spray in maintaining coastal grassland and heathland communities that support many endangered species and are among the most threatened habitats in the northeast.
