• Exempt Organizations (EO) Update from the IRS - a periodic newsletter with information for tax-exempt organizations and tax practitioners - attorneys, accountants, and others - who represent them, from Exempt Organizations (Tax-Exempt and Government Entities) at the IRS.
• Additional Requirements for Tax-Exempt Hospitals under Affordable Care Act Notice 2010-39 solicits written comments on the application of certain requirements imposed on tax-exempt hospitals by new section 501(r), added to the Code by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. Tax-exempt hospitals must satisfy these new requirements to be described in section 501(c)(3). Comments must be submitted by July 22, 2010.
• IRS Releases Interim Report on Nonprofit Colleges and Universities Compliance Project - The Internal Revenue Service released an interim report, with executive summary, summarizing responses to a questionnaire about nonprofit colleges and universities' tax law compliance. Colleges and universities make up one of the largest nonprofit segments in the country in terms of revenue and assets
