Get Homeless Kids to Camp

"Truthfully, [the HCF] couldn't possibly be anymore convenient, helpful, and supportive than it already is. I truly appreciate what your organization has done for so many children. THANK YOU!!"
- from the Latinas y Niños Center's final report to the Homeless Campership Fund

The Homeless Campership Fund, now in its 15th year, continues to be a vital resource for camps, shelters, and most importantly, homeless families. In 2003, the HCF provided 551 weeks of camp to 145 youth. Through the HCF the Summer Fund offers homeless shelters in the greater Boston area access to a structured and reliable process for providing the children they serve with day and overnight camp experiences. In 2004, the goal is to provide at least 200 homeless children with the opportunity to spend their summers in safe and nurturing programs at no cost to the parents or shelters.

The vast majority of shelters have indicated that the Homeless Campership Fund is the only summer resource for the children they serve. While there are many outstanding organizations in our community that are working very hard to address homelessness and the issues that contribute to the problem, the Homeless Campership Fund is the only program in the Boston area that brings together shelters, camps, and donors in a cost-effective structured process that meets the needs all parties on such a large scale.
