ABOUT US

Mission and programs:
Greater Boston Funders for Women & Girls (W&G) is a regional funder affinity group of foundation staff and trustees and individual donors. Formerly Women in Philanthropy, a professional association for women working in Boston’s philanthropic sector, we changed our name in 1998 to reflect our shift in focus from us--women practitioners in philanthropy--to the women and girls who could potentially benefit from increased philanthropic dollars earmarked for gender-specific or gender-sensitive programs. Today our mission is to educate and mobilize the philanthropic community to improve opportunities and support leadership development for women and girls.

W&G's activities include:

• Forums, workshops, and discussions on critical issues affecting women and girls that encourage the exchange of best practices and grantmaking strategies
• A website hosted by Associated Grant Makers offering links, tools, a calendar of events, and other resources
• Outreach to new funders and funding communities to show them the benefits of funding programs for women and girls

Membership is open to institutions and individuals making philanthropic contributions in the Boston area.
