At Caritas Communities, we provide very low income individuals with permanent housing, support, a sense of community and expanded opportunities. For more than 32 years, Caritas has helped fill the need for safe, secure housing in Greater Boston.
A first of such positions for Caritas’ rapidly growing development shop, this 20 hour/week position requires a strategic, pro-active, and highly motivated development professional with a proven track record in fundraising. This position involves superior communication and social skills, as well as the desire to be part of a team-oriented environment. Successful candidates will have 5+ years of development experience with demonstrated success in major gifts, planned giving and annual fund solicitations. The Individual Gift Officer is responsible for helping to meet a department annual revenue target of over $2 million by increasing annual dinner gifts, annual fund gifts, and developing new planned giving donors.
This position will maximize support from individual donors in order to achieve annual goals, and help deliver development strategies combining annual dinner, annual fund, major gifts and planned gifts. They will: achieve and maintain the highest standards of relationship management and reporting; collaborate with the Executive Director, Director of Fund Development, Board of Directors and others to strengthen existing relationships with individual donors; execute meaningful points of engagement for our donors; and identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward new individual donor prospects. Strong writing, public speaking, and strategic thinking essential.
Experience / skills / qualifications
5+ years of fundraising experience, proven front line fundraiser with experience developing a portfolio, and a track record of securing 5-6 figure gifts. Articulate, strategic, entrepreneurial, problem solver with a proven ability to listen, write, and speak effectively. Highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work collaboratively. Knowledge of fundraising databases and Microsoft Office.
This is a part-time exempt position. This position is based in Braintree, MA with regular travel required in Boston and the Greater Boston suburbs. Full background check required. Travel using a personal vehicle is required in carrying out the essential duties and responsibilities. Expenses will be reimbursed. Some night work required.
