Founded in Boston in 2016, Latinos for Education (L4E) is the first Latino-founded and led national organization mobilizing a network of skilled Latino education leaders to ensure the voice of Latino students and families is not only heard, but influences decision-making in schools, communities and education institutions throughout the U.S. Our Aspiring Latino Leaders and Latino Board Fellowships accelerate careers of Latino professionals while providing them the training, connections and support they need to succeed and create change. We are also ensuring Latino education professionals have access to job and professional development opportunities across the country through our members-only Talent Hub. With more Latinos in positions of influence, Latino children are more likely to achieve their full potential in the classroom and in life.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Greater Boston Programs, the Program Manager has a desire to join an entrepreneurial and fast-paced organization. They believe a quality education should be accessible to all Latino children and their beliefs align with our philosophy that a quality education can come from many sources. They will support program development, manage implementation of programs, and ensure continuous improvement of all Latinos for Education activities in the Boston area to include:

  • Coordinating Programs: Latino Board Fellowship, the Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship, and other standalone workshops and trainings for L4E members locally.
  • Network Building: Work closely with the Director and national team to build the talent pipeline of Latinos in education locally and regionally. Cultivate a growing network of Latino talent connecting them to job opportunities, professional development and to one another at the local and state level.
  • Supporting External Engagement: The Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating external engagement activities which may include organizing and collaborating with Latino serving organizations, relationship building, and executing on a strategic marketing and communications plan at the local level.
  • Local Strategic Leadership: The Program Manager will be part of the Latinos for Education Boston leadership team and will participate in team meetings, contribute to local organizational strategy and culture, and conduct management reporting activities as requested.

Responsibilities:

Program Management: (75%)

Latino Board Fellowship (8-10 Participants annually)

  • Conduct outreach to attract Latinos to the program
  • Organize and manage day to day activities of the selection process
  • Manage and schedule interviews with qualified candidates
  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of program implementation to include finalizing agendas, putting program packages together, identifying event locations, scheduling program dates, food and speaker coordination, and communicating with all stakeholders via email/phone and onsite
  • Participate onsite on all program delivery dates
  • Using Salesforce, track and manage outreach and connections with alumni of the program
  • Help coordinate program partnerships
  • Manage program evaluation and reporting
  • Plan and organize alumni committee activities

Aspiring Latino Leaders Fellowship (15-20 Participants annually)

  • Manage the day to day activities of the selection process to include recruitment, application, selection and cultivating on-going relationships
  • Manage interview processes with candidates
  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of program implementation to include finalizing agendas, putting program packages together, identifying event locations, scheduling program dates, food and speaker coordination, and communicating with all stakeholders via email/phone and onsite
  • Using Salesforce, track and manage outreach and connections with alumni of the program
  • Manage program evaluation and reporting
  • Provide ongoing support to cohort participants by connecting them to network opportunities such as: career coaching, community engagement opportunities, and leadership development
  • Plan and organize alumni committee activities

External Communications and Engagement: (15%)

  • Manage a personal and Greater Boston social media strategy to engage our network
  • Coordinate events centered around Latino education such as workshops, panel discussions, etc.
  • Supports Director/Executive Director in maintaining strong relationships with local Latino groups/organizations/charter schools/district schools/education organizations, etc.

General Management: (10%)

  • Set up and organize all files for managing work products on Office 365
  • Using Salesforce, manage engagement for relevant relationships
  • Participate in team meetings • Help build organizational culture by embodying the L4E organizational values
  • Support and edit grant applications and other marketing materials for Boston funder base • Manage project plans on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis

Qualifications

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual to help grow a new social venture from the ground up and for someone passionate about Latino education and leadership. The successful candidate will be highly organized and operate with a sense of urgency. Specific requirements include: 

  • Minimum of a BA degree
  • 4-6 years of professional experiences including:
    • 3+ years of experience in the education sector
    • 2+ years primarily in program management
    • 2+ years working with the Latino community
  • Cultural competency: experience working with the Latino community as constituents or key stakeholders
  • Impeccable attention to detail with an ability to manage multiple activities at once in a rapidly changing/growing start up
  • A self-starter who can work virtually, in person, and in teams as needed
  • Excellent verbal, written, project management, and communication skills 
  • Personal qualities of integrity, reliability, and a commitment to and passion for Latinos for Education’s mission
  • Proficient in Microsoft office tools (required); Salesforce experience (preferred)
  • Experience with social media as a key lever for external engagement (preferred)
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

Salary commensurate with experience. This role requires occasional weekend and/or evening work. Benefits package includes generous flex time, health, dental, vision, and 401K match.
