The Senior Advancement Officer, Government & Foundation Relations is responsible for securing $1M - $5M per year to support a wide array of Museum of Science initiatives and programs. With the SD, CFG this position will build a new, inclusive government grant strategy and own the entire federal grant submission processes for multiple submissions across multiple federal agencies per year. The Senior Advancement Officer will work with an array of stakeholders from across the Museum to create compelling proposals for a wide-array of programmatic, education and capital funding needs. In addition, the Senior Advancement Officer will provide high-level stewardship and reporting for selected foundation donors.
- Raise $1M - $5M per year from federal government sources, pending budget allocations and funding levels.
- Work with Senior Director CFG and Museum staff to identify opportunities, write, and edit full federal grant roughly 8-10 annual proposals for a variety of Museum programs and exhibits from the Museum's main funding agencies: NASA, NSF, IMLS, DoE, NIH.
- Execute high-level stewardship for 3 to 5 selected Museum foundation donors.
- Identify, cultivate and solicit grants in support of the Museum from additional foundation donors as time allows throughout the year (roughly 10 proposals per year).
This position is full-time, 40hrs/wk, Monday-Friday
Sr. Director, Corporate, Foundation & Government Relations
- Bachelors of Science or Arts degree.
- 5 or more years of federal government fundraising experience.
- Proven track record of soliciting and securing 6 and 7 figure grants from federal agencies.
- Familiarity with at least one and ideally more of the Museum's federal funding sources (IMLS, NASA, NSF, NIH, DoE).
- Demonstrated experience writing and reporting on federal grants.
- Demonstrated communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects, and work consistently towards key submission dates.
- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with both external donors and internal colleagues.
